Meet Chris

A one-person, locally-owned IT business based in Rakaia. No call centres, no scripts — just me.

Chris — Sudo Fix
// hello

Hi, I’m Chris.

I’m Chris — I run Sudo Fix from right here in Rakaia. It’s a registered sole trader operation, which is the formal way of saying it’s just me. When you call, you get me.

I’ve spent years working with computers and the people who use them, and I started Sudo Fix because Mid Canterbury deserves proper IT help close to home — someone who knows what they’re doing, turns up when they say they will, and treats your gear and your time with respect.

// what I do

Here to help

Whether it’s a laptop that’s grinding to a halt, a network that won’t behave, a virus that’s taken hold, or a full Starlink install, I’ve got it covered. I live off-grid on my own land out here, running on solar and Starlink myself — so the setups I recommend aren’t theory, they’re what I rely on every day.

I’m continually building on my training too — I’m working through a Bachelor of ICT at Ara, on top of years of hands-on experience. Technology never stops changing, and staying sharp is part of doing this job properly.

// what I stand for

How I work

Plain English, always

I’ll never blind you with jargon or make you feel silly for asking. If I can’t explain it simply, I don’t understand it well enough yet.

Honest advice

If something isn’t worth fixing, I’ll tell you. If you don’t need the expensive option, I’ll say so. I’d rather have your trust than a quick sale.

Fair, flat pricing

You get a quote before I start. The price you’re told is the price you pay — no surprises on the invoice.

Genuinely local

I live here too. You might see me at the shop. That accountability matters — it’s my name and reputation on every job.

// what matters to me

Most of all, I want you to feel looked after.

I’ll explain things in plain language, never talk down to you, and always be straight about what does and doesn’t need doing. No upselling, no jargon, no surprises on the bill.

I want to make technology less stressful — to help everyone, whatever their age or confidence with computers, get the most out of their devices and stay safe online. And because I live here too, every job is one I’ll stand behind.
